Welcome to Sasakawa and Partners Impacts |
|
The “knowledge and monitoring system for assessing impacts (IA) of activities promoted by SG 2000 and partners in Ethiopia and Uganda” project, in short the “Project” is a system to monitor knowledge and assess impact of activities and technology packages promoted by the Sasakawa Africa Association (SAA), and national partners, on farmers’ livelihoods in Ethiopia and Uganda, both country programmes being supported by funding by Sasakawa Global 2000 (“SG2000”).
The Project has put in place a system to measure, monitor, and evaluate the dissemination and benefits of SG2000 program activities and technology packages. These include:
| - |
Improvements in maize production |
| - |
Improvements in wheat production |
| - |
Adoption of small-scale irrigation and conservation tillage technology |
| - |
Adoption of post-harvest, agro-processing and improved marketing technologies |
| - |
Improvement of crops such as rice (NERICA), beans and teff |
| - |
Capacity building of farmers |
The Project refers its monitoring system to the declared and evolving objectives, strategies and indicators of SG2000, as formulated in the documents developed by SG2000 in 2007 (see Links).
The objectives of the Project are being achieved through:
| - |
Collection and preliminary analysis and tabulation of data on SG2000 technology packages and by developing a geo-referenced database of a sample of farm households |
| - |
Communication of scientific results and policy implications through workshops and other regional and international fora and mainly through the Project website, and, as a result: |
| - |
Increased policy dialogue and capacity building of users in the region |
